Cobalt Hole Saws for Steel, Aluminium, Wood & Cast Iron

What is a hole saw?

A hole saw is a round saw blade that is used in a hand drill; they are capable of creating holes in a variety of materials, such as steel, stainless steel, wood & cast iron. They are typically manufactured a steel body, usually a tool steel such as high speed steel or carbon steel; in some cases, such as Abracs' Cobalt Hole Saws, the body is made from a bi-metal construction.

Often, this kind of saw will have a very tough metal mixed into the content of the body. Cobalt is a common addition. Abracs' Cobalt Hole Saw range contains 8% cobalt content to ensure high levels of strength, outstanding durability & unrivalled performance.

In most circumstances, the user will need to drill a pilot hole using a pilot drill bit before using the hole saw itself. The pilot hole is usually 1/4" (~6.35MM) in diameter

After this is done the user will need to mount the item in to the arbor. An arbor is an attachment which allows the user to thread various sized saws on to it. Larger hole saws require a larger arbor. For example, we offer an A1 type arbor for hole cutters up from 14MM to 30MM in diameter, and an A2 type arbor for hole cutters from 32MM all the way up to 152MM in diameter.

Hole saws are available in a variety of types & diameters. They are used by a multitude of different trades. Welding Supplies Direct have partnered with Abracs to offer hole saw kits to cater to two of the largest trade users, plumbers & electricians.
